following a tangent

At the top of 2019 I was working through some blocks and dead ends in my practice. A lot of what I was doing in the studio felt empty and mechanical. I pushed myself to abandon any preconceived ideas that were making my experiments constrained. So I began blindly following my instincts and making decisions without thinking 10 steps ahead. I am still trying to get unstuck but in the process already a few new paintings emerged. 

Listening to: the Recappables Podcast (specifically the episode on ‘The Suitcase’ from Mad Men – I think I’ve listened to this ep. 7 times… maybe more)
